What is included in our Medics, Dentists & Vets Programme?

Specialist Induction Day

Xaverian students have high expectations on them and this starts with your very first induction day. As well as being invited to the New Students’ Day, students interested in our Medical Professionals Programme will be invited to an additional day. This day will feature additional practical lessons as well as guest speakers from university admissions departments and industry professionals such as GPs and surgeons. Additionally we will explain what is required in the next two years of study in order for you to be prepared for your journey ahead.

Entrance Exam tuition

Students have to complete exams in order to make a successful application to the most competitive courses in the UK. A successful application for medicine for example, may include  taking the UKCAT, BMAT or GAMSAT examinations. Students on our programme will have guidance and support in preparing for these exams from our team of specialist at the college.

Work Experience

Our careers team are more than just a team of advisors to guide you through your progression at Xaverian. The team work tirelessly to ensure all students have what they need to progress into their chosen field and specialism. For STEM students this means work experience in Hospitals, Vet Surgeries or Dentists.

Mentor Programme

Xaverian has a long tradition of going above and beyond for its students and for many years has run a successful mentor programme. This pairs up students with an industry professional who advise and guide students and work with them, on routes into the industry they desire as well as support with applications, interviews and often work experience.

Guest lectures

Xaverian is proud to work closely with The University of Manchester to deliver part of their foundation programme. This includes courses in Biosciences, Medicine, Dentistry & Pharmacy. This unique relationship allows us to provide students with extracurricular lectures that will help students  and broaden their insight into their academic courses in orderto be better prepared for progression to university.

Tutorials & Application support

Xaverian High Achievers are all included in a specialist  tutorial programme which runs from December in the first year to December in the final year of study. The purpose of these tutorials is to provide students with the application support their needs as well as develop their higher level thinking and problem solving skills. All of which will come in use when applying for and completing a course at one of the best universities in the UK.

How do you apply?

We enrol students during their course consultations between  January and April. You will be  invited to a consultation after submitting your application to the college. Be sure to write, Medicine, Density or Veterinary science on the application form where it asks what career are you considering. Remember universities are looking for top grades at GCSE so this will be taken into consideration.
