Higher Education Fair

Fifty universities (Including 17 Russell Group) from far and wide arrived at Xaverian for our annual Higher Education Fair

Leading up to the HE fair our students were given a talk on things to consider when applying to university such as student finance, types of universities, accommodation, teaching ratios, employability rates and course types. This gave them a good idea of what to look out for and the type of questions to ask at the fair. The event was really well attended and both the providers and students found it very useful.

Careers Coordinator Tony Payne said, “Our annual HE Day is a fantastic opportunity for students to interact with university representatives and find out what studying at university is like. Students were asking all kinds of questions about courses, student life and support during their studies. We would like to thank all of our exhibitors, staff and students for making the day a huge success.”

Parents’ Information Evening

On the same day we were delighted welcome our parents to a information evening.  The event was an opportunity to learn about about basic areas that their sons or daughters will be involved in over the coming year, these are:

  1. Student finance
  2. Applying to university
  3. Apprenticeships
  4. Gap years
  5. There was also a talk on high achievers and those with aspirations to Oxbridge /Russell Group universities

Joanne Leach, Careers Manager, said, “The evening provided us with a platform to let parents know exactly what their students need to be doing in relation to UCAS and how student finances work, as well as an outline of Apprenticeship Schemes . We had an amazing turn out and it is great to see so many parents actively engaged within the college.

The presentations from the evening can be accessed on the Parents section of the Careers page or by clicking on the links below.
