Public Speaking Success
Congratulations to Lorraine Chimbga for winning this year’s Catenians Public Speaking Competition. Against stiff competition from 13 other contestants, representing schools and Colleges from all over the North West of England , Lorraine impressed an audience of over 150 guests with her speech on the subject of “People and governments have never learned anything from history”. A clever and well –argued address, superbly delivered, drew universal praise from the judges and won Lorraine a £120 prize and the coveted Catenians’ trophy for the College. The contest was held at the Alma Lodge Hotel, Stockport, on Sunday 5th February and she now goes on to represent the North West in the Catenians’ International Speaking competition which takes place in September. Let’s hope that History does repeat itself – for Lorraine at least!
