The college also has an recruitment programme for students who wish to apply for Oxford and Cambridge universities.  This programme has visiting speakers, mock interviews, meetings with former Xaverian students who are studying at Oxbridge, as well as overnight trips to Oxford and Cambridge and shadowing schemes.

Every year more and more students from Xaverian apply to Oxbridge and gain places there. Between 2007 and 2010 21 students started their studies there, and in 2011 a remarkable twelve students received offers for the two universities – more than any sixth-form college in Greater Manchester.
