“I’ve always loved sport, but at Xaverian I found a new enjoyment for sport because of how closely related it is to the real world, from researching real athletes in coursework to developing my own skills, such as leadership. I also felt the coursework element really suited me because it was more engaging and active than purely written exams.
As I play basketball for a professional basketball team, the teachers have supported me to fit my playing commitments around my course. I can also put into practice what I have learned on the course by improving my own performance in sport and learning about anatomy and physiology. I really like the mixture of practical and theory on BTEC Sport. I have become a better all-round sports performer and been given the chance to play in competitive matches and improve my coaching and leadership skills. We have been on some great trips with BTEC Sport. I particularly liked the university trip to UA92. It really got me thinking about the range of options after Xaverian. The mix of coursework and exams really works for me. My teachers are always available to support me with the coursework, and the exams are spread out so they don’t all happen at the same time.”
