Student Council

Your voice matters here.

The Student Council is made up of elected students who represent the College community, shape the student experience, and make sure the things that matter to you are heard at the highest level, including by the Principal.

What the Student Council does 

Every year, a new Council is elected to
represent the student body. Members work closely with staff and the College’s Senior Leadership Team to influence decisions,
organise events, and lead on charity and community initiatives. 

Once a term, the Council meets directly with the Principal to share student views and ideas formally. The rest of the term, they stay connected to the student body through a monthly surgery in the common room, where anyone can come along, ask questions, and have their say. 

“I chose to study at Xaverian because I loved the Campus and knew the staff and teachers would help me achieve my goals. I wanted to be a part of the Student Council so I could help make College the best place for myself, my friends and the wider student body. I had been in similar roles in high school, so I had lots of experience I could bring to my role. As a member of the Council, I wanted to make student engagement a priority and really enhance this over the two years. I’d really like to study a Degree in Accounting at one of the Manchester-based universities, and I think being a part of the Council will also help me develop personally alongside my studies.”

Beyond Xaverian 

Two Council members serve as Student Governors, sitting on the College’s Governing Body. A significant number of our Council members have also gone on to be elected to Manchester Youth Council and the British Youth Parliament, taking the skills they built here to a much bigger stage.

Elections take place at the start of the academic year. Keep an eye out for information on how to stand when you join us in September.
