A Levels are the traditional academic route to university or an Advanced/Higher-level Apprenticeship. At Xaverian, you can choose from over 30 subjects, so you are sure to find ones you will enjoy studying over the two years you will be with us. A Levels are ideal if you wish to specialise in more than one subject, and they give you the chance to build on your knowledge from Year 11, as well as improve your academic and research skills.
At Xaverian, we offer:
Applied Subjects differ from A Levels in that you will be assessed through a combination of course assignments and end-of-year exams. By choosing Applied Subjects, you could focus on an area that you wish to study at university and give yourself a head start by gaining practical skills and knowledge in subjects not offered as A Levels. They carry UCAS points in the same way that A Levels do and will contribute to your overall UCAS points score if you wish to progress to university.
You could also gain the skills and experience you need to start your career and progress directly into employment.
In a small number of cases, students may qualify for their advanced courses, but still need to achieve a pass grade in English and Mathematics. We will discuss your options with you at enrolment, which could include retaking your English and Mathematics GCSEs with us.
You can also choose to study Core Mathematics alongside your main subjects to support, if the subject has a significant mathematical content, or you simply want to improve your skills.
