“I have loved every aspect of the course, especially as I can truly have an opinion. I love the debates we had in class, from talking about God’s existence to feminism in theology, and I’d always feel comfortable expressing my views and learning other ways of thinking. There is definitely something in it for everyone! Writers and academics from universities come into College to give us talks and, this week, a guest speaker is talking to us about patriarchal interpretation of scripture of the old testament and the damage this has done in society.

We have already visited Rome where we experienced the centre of theological thinking in Christianity, the ancient world, and the city’s art and culture. We also have the opportunity to take part in religious experience trips to Lourdes in France and Holywell. We have many debates in class and some of these are based around research projects. Currently, we are looking at the Islamic poet, Rumi, and the importance of mysticism in religion and its place in modern-day society. We will work in groups and present our findings to the class. We also look at ethics and the work of ancient and modern philosophers, such as Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Aquinas and Wittgenstein, and focus on issues such as the sanctity of life, natural law and the ethical and legal arguments around euthanasia.”
