COURSES AT XAVERIAN COLLEGE

Whatever your ambition, we’ve got A-levels and Applied courses (including BTEC/CTEC) to exceed your expectations.

Xaverian courses are designed to give you the best possible foundation in your favourite subjects to get you set for whatever your future holds.

We work closely with universities to make sure that through our courses you’re geared up for corresponding higher education curricula.

WE'RE HERE TO HELP

If you’ve got a specific career path in mind, you’ll find it easy to decide which courses to choose. Otherwise you might choose courses aligned to what you enjoy doing outside school.

We’re here every weekday to help with your decision. We can even organise a chat with our Admissions Team for you to ask questions about subjects you might be considering.

A-LEVELS OR APPLIED COURSES?

CHOOSE BASED ON HOW YOU PREFER TO STUDY

A-LEVELS

… include some coursework but are mostly graded through exams. These courses are general and academic and ideal if you want to keep your career choices open.

Applied courses

… are mostly assessed by coursework (though some include examined elements). These courses are more practical and a great choice if you already have an interest in a specific job area.

Extended Diploma – equivalent to three A-levels
Diploma – equivalent to two A-levels
Extended Certificate – equivalent to one A-level

BOTH...

… can be used to get into university. They each carry UCAS tariff points; an A-level Grade A is equivalent to an Applied course Distinction (A* is Distinction*).

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Want to mix it up? Study two A-levels and an Applied course – it’s up to you.

HIGH
ACHIEVERS PROGRAMME

At Xaverian College we want to ensure that all students have the opportunity to flourish and continue to develop so that they leave college with the high level skills as well as the outstanding qualifications that are required to become the leaders of the future.  There are a number of ways Xaverian works to ensure excellence.

FOUNDATION LEVEL COURSE

This is an entry level course for students with few prior qualifications, and is designed to equip you with essential skills before moving on to further study at level 2 or into employment. Xaverian students have progressed from foundation, through level 2 and advanced level, and to university.

Medical Professionals Programme

As well as being invited to the New Students’ Day, students interested in our Medical Professionals Programme will be invited to an additional day. This day will feature additional practical lessons as well as guest speakers from university admissions departments and industry professionals such as GPs and surgeons. Additionally we will explain what is required in the next two years of study in order for you to be prepared for your journey ahead.

Xaverian college is amazing and the instructors are great. When you’re here it’s like a big family. It’s great to be a part of.

OXBRIDGE

At the moment almost 30 former Xaverian are studying at Oxford and Cambridge. To help this progress we have an extensive programme to guide you and prepare you with the skills that are necessary so you can make a competitive application.

EPQ

Set on university and ready to master the study skills you’ll need to thrive?

The one-year EPQ (the equivalent to half an A-level) is your chance to learn the research and critical thinking skills required for higher education-level study while developing a 5,000-word analysis or impressive creative artefact relating to a topic you adore. The EPQ also qualifies for UCAS points, whatever grade you achieve will give you half the UCAS points that you would get for the full A-level equivalent (e.g. 28 points for an A* as opposed to 56 for the full A-level).

All students on A-level and Applied courses can apply for the EPQ after settling in at Xaverian.
