Xaverian College is delighted to announce the official opening of the new Sunbury Building, a flagship development that marks an exciting new chapter for Science education at the College. Purpose-built, modern and designed with students in mind, Sunbury now stands as a state-of-the-art hub for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Science and Medical Science subjects.

The name ā€˜Sunbury’ has long been woven into the identity of Xaverian College. The original Sunbury building, which stood on this site for decades, played a vital role in the early growth of the campus. First used as a residential house before being adapted into classrooms and specialist spaces, Sunbury became a familiar and much-loved part of daily life at the College.

Generations of students have studied in Sunbury, sat numerous exams there, and created lifelong memories within its walls. While the original building served the College well, its replacement marks a thoughtful and forward-looking transformation, one that respects Sunbury’s heritage whilst ensuring future students benefit from the very best facilities. The new development continues that legacy, retaining the historic name as a celebration of the College’s past whilst heralding a new era of opportunity for Science students.

The new Sunbury building offers bright, spacious laboratories equipped with industry-standard technology, flexible teaching rooms, collaborative breakout spaces and dedicated preparation areas – all designed to support first-rate scientific learning experience . Sunbury has been designed with sustainability at its core, featuring energy-efficient systems and environmentally-conscious materials that support the college’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

Students and staff have already commented on how inspiring the new environment feels, from the light-filled labs to the improved accessibility and sense of community across the Science subjects.

As Science remains one of the most popular and successful areas of study at Xaverian, the new Sunbury building stands as a major investment in the future of Science education, and a fitting evolution of a building whose name has been part of the College community for generations.

Tony Knowles, Principal, said: ā€œThe Sunbury building represents both our history and our future. It honours an important part of Xaverian’s past whilst giving our Science students exceptional facilities that will transform their learning experience. This is an investment in curiosity, ambition and the next generation of scientists.ā€
