Manchester Giants Academy at Xaverian College

About
The Manchester Giants Academy programme at Xaverian is an excellent opportunity for students who wish to pursue a future in professional basketball, whilst studying for A-levels or Applied qualifications at one of Manchester’s top Sixth Form Colleges.
You will combine your academic studies at Xaverian with regular training with the Manchester Giants Academy. You will study three mornings and one full day on campus at college, taught by exceptional teaching staff, and with access to the same facilities and opportunities available for all of our students. You will then have four afternoons of training with Manchester Giants, benefiting from their professional coaching and support.
Entry requirements
- You will need to demonstrate a track record of playing basketball to a high standard
- Meet Xaverian’s academic and overall entry requirements, which can be found here
Studying with us
We expect that all Academy students will take at least one block of Sport BTEC* as part of the Academy programme of study, which you can combine with any two of our A-Levels, or equivalent Applied/BTEC subjects.
*The Sport BTEC course is available as one, two and three-block options, equivalent to the same number of A-Levels. Applicants can choose any of these options, and combine with other subjects as appropriate.
To apply
To apply, you will need to print off and fill in the application form below, include a personal statement that details your experience playing basketball, and then take it to your high school for the Head of Year (or a similar manager) to complete your predicted GCSE grades and reference. You will need to check whether your school will send the form directly to us or whether you will need to send it.
